About

Shooting the Grand Canyon with Adam Schallau.

I’m Cary Tucker, a wildlife and landscape photographer drawn to the places where the world grows quiet — where there is time to wander, to watch, and to simply be present.

Wildlife and landscape have long held my attention. I love the quiet uncertainty of being there without knowing what the next moment will bring — waiting for an animal to appear, watching light move across a landscape, or witnessing something unexpected unfold. It is that sense of discovery that keeps me looking, waiting, and returning.

Nature has a way of slowing everything down. The noise falls away. The mind becomes still. You begin to notice the smallest things — a change in the light, movement in the distance, the presence of something wild just beyond where you are looking.

It is often in those moments that a photograph reveals itself.

I don't simply want to capture what a place or animal looked like.

I want to capture what it felt like to be there.

The stillness before dawn. The quiet presence of wildlife. The extraordinary light that lasts only a few minutes. The feeling of being completely immersed in a landscape, with nowhere else to be and nothing else demanding your attention.

These are the moments I want my photographs to hold.

Because a photograph can be more than something beautiful on a wall. It can alter the atmosphere of a room. Create a sense of calm. Take you somewhere beyond the everyday.

A place to pause.

A moment to breathe.

A glimpse of something wild, beautiful, and fleeting.

Perhaps that is what I am really trying to preserve — not simply a moment in nature, but the feeling of having been there.
